SYTRIECI (Syndicat des Travailleurs Domestiques et Indépendants de l’Économie Informelle), a trade union advocating for informal workers in Rwanda, is inviting qualified consultancy firms to submit proposals for a research project focused on childcare in the informal economy.
Research Focus
The aim of this research is to explore the working and living conditions of women and children in informal sectors, with a particular emphasis on access to Early Childhood Development (ECD) services.
Research Objectives

Develop indicators to assess working/living conditions and ECD access.

Analyze the realities faced by women and children (ages 0–6) in markets in Kigali City and Rwamagana District.

Evaluate current ECD services and identify gaps.

Assess stakeholder awareness of childcare policies.
Methodology
The research will compare a market within Kigali and one outside (Rwamagana District). Proposals should include:

Desk review (labor force, health data, etc.)

Qualitative & quantitative data collection (interviews, surveys, focus groups)
Who Can Apply?
We are looking for consultants with:

Proven research experience in Rwanda (especially informal economy and childcare).

Strong background in child development.

Solid data collection and analytical skills.

Excellent writing and reporting capabilities.

Affiliation with a local research institution (preferred).
